 RoboCupJunior-UK A mini-site relating to RoboCupJunior-UK.
RoboFesta-UK/Blue Peter Design a Robot Competition In late November 2001, RoboFesta-UK (part of the European RoboFesta movement) took 4 British children to Japan as part of a delegation of European children. The famous BBC television children’s programme, Blue Peter, worked with us on this project and helped us to find the children delegates through a "Design a really useful robot competition" that was run in February, 2001.
Creative Robotics Research Network Robotics, mechatronics and animatronics (the construction of robots to look like people or animals) are finding widespread use in the cultural and entertainment industries. The Creative Robotics Research Network (CRRN) seeks to bring together academic researchers, industry represerentatives and visual and performance arts practitioners. The network will support the transfer of knowledge, expertise and personnel between these different sectors, act as a showcase for the work of network members, and encourage educational outreach activities. The network will support regular meetings for core network members and special interest groups and promote an annual research meeting for all network members. Academic members will be encouraged to work with arts practitioners in the development of accessible research technology demonstrations, transfer research results to industrial contexts and identify relevant educational programs. Industrial partners will be encouraged to identify education and training requirements, areas appropriate for applied research, and offer work placements to other network members. Arts practitioners will be invited to explore the expressive potential of new techmnologies in both small works and in the wider context of the creative and entertainment industries.
